Team India’s ace bowler will play a cameo in the Mandira Bedi starrer ‘Mirabai - Not Out’

Anil Kumble has just joined the league of Kapil Dev, Sunil Gavaskar, Vinod Kambli and Ajay Jadeja. Following in their footsteps, the star Indian spinner is all set to appear in a film with Mandira Bedi, interestingly titled ‘Mirabai – Not Out’.

“It’s a cameo for Anil,” says director Chandrakant Kulkarni. “The film isn’t entirely about cricket. The game is just the backdrop, with Mandira playing a cricket enthusiast.”

Mandira reveals, “It’s a feel-good subject where I play a de-glam, cricket crazy fan. It will be Ejaz’s (Khan) debut as a big-screen hero. Both Anupam Kher and Mahesh Manjrekar, who are huge cricket buffs, will play key roles too.”

As for Kumble’s involvement, Mandira says, “‘Basically I play an Anil Kumble fan. I’d like to stress that this is not his Bollywood debut; he just plays himself.”

The cricketer, who is at the moment basking in the glory of the Indian team’s historic test win against South Africa, was understandably unavailable for comment.
