The pair, who first appeared together as the wealthy teenage socialite Cher Horowitz and her skateboarding classmate, Travis Birkenstock, in the teen comedy reunited at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery, reported Entertainment Weekly.

In a surprise move, Silverstone, 40, opened the screening with phrase "whatever", used consistently by her on-screen persona in the film directed by Amy Heckerling.

"Thank you, I hope you enjoy the movie," the actress said, when the audience attempted to get her to say "As if!", one of the film's signature lines.

Silverstone playfully responded by saying, "You're going to hear it in a second, you don't need me to say it.

Whatever!"

The coming-of-age comedy also featured Paul Rudd, Justin Walker and Brittany Murphy.
