Actor Akshay Kumar and filmmaker Farah Khan will be donating the proceeds of the premiere of their forthcoming movie to charity. The premiere that will be held today, will see a sizeable part of the ticket sales go to Jai Vakeel School in Sewri, which caters to 700 special children.
“Akshay Kumar and Farah Khan have come together and joined in our efforts to donate the proceeds of their film for the aid of our school. I am really grateful to them for this effort. This is a gesture that each one of us will remember,” says philanthropist Bijal Meswani, a patron of the school.
Both Farah and Akshay confirmed the development saying that they too are happy to be a part of the initiative which will aid the special children.
“Akshay and Farah had been to the school a couple of days back and interacted with the children who were too happy to see them. He kept all the requests (to play with them etc) that the children were making to him,” says a source.
According to the source, Akshay and Farah has also made a personal donation to the school about which they don’t want to speak about. “The donor passes of the film are available for everybody at Metro Big Cinemas and at St. Andrews Church. We urge everybody to contribute their share for the school and enjoy the movie too,” says an official from the initiative.
