Sethi's book delves into the uncertainties of daily wage earners of Delhi's Sadar bazaar area through the story of Mohammad Ashraf.

Peepli Live ended with Nattha turning into a city labourer but Rizvi says The Free Man, which deals with the similar topic, would not be a sequel to her first movie.

"It is not a sequel to Peepli Live, it is another book The Free Man which we have as a project. Peepli Live cannot have a sequel," Rizvi told PTI on the sidelines of NFDC's Film Bazaar at IFFI.

Meanwhile, the filmmaker, hopes to do justice to Ghosh's popular novel. She is also turning producer with the movie. Rizvi is yet to start with her casting as she is looking for feedback from people to her script.

"Opium is based on Amitav Ghosh's book Sea of poppies, it's part of a trilogy and this is the first book. The entire backdrop of the story is when Indian farmers are forced to go opium and they are then taken by the East India company and forced on too China.

"I haven't begun the casting yet, we are discussing, getting the script ready, giving it out to people to read to see their reaction, how far we have managed to condense the book. It is such a popular book, people get hurt if bits and pieces are left out. We are hoping to get people's reaction and see if they have really engaged to the story," she added.
