After being rejected for 'Besharam', Taapsee Pannu will debut David Dhawan's 'Chashme Buddoor'
Taapsee Pannu, who made her debut in Hindi cinema with David Dhawan’s Chashme Buddoor, is all set to play a full-on sardarni from Amritsar in debutant director Amit Roy’s romcom Running Shaadi.com with Kai Po Che actor Amit Sadh.
The interesting aspect of this big-ticket laughathon is that Taapsee will play a sardarni. This real-life sardarni was rejected from the audition of Abhinav Kashyap’s Besharam because according to the film’s makers Taapsee did not look like a sardarni.
Smiling at the irony of it, a member of the Running Shaadi.com team says, “They said Taapsee, who is actually a Sikh, could not play a sardarni in Besharam as she didn’t look like one. Instead they signed a South Indian actress Pallavi Sharda as the sardarni and look what happened!”
While both Taapsee and Amit have been forbidden from speaking about their roles, Shoojit Sircar who co-produces the film reveals, “It’s a sweet little story set in Amritsar about these two characters who run a website on how to elope.”
