After Alia Bhatt, this Bollywood actress to work with SS Rajamouli, she will share screen space with Mahesh Babu: Report

After breaking records, and taking India to the international level with his last film, RRR, director SS Rajamouli will now be working on his next directorial with Mahesh Babu. As per the reports, Rajamouli's next directorial with the working title SSMB28 has got its leading lady. The Baahubali director will again cast a Bollywood actress for his film. After casting Alia Bhatt in RRR, Rajamouli will again work with another actress from the north. 

SSMB28, the pan-world African jungle adventure, featuring Mahesh Babu in the lead as an explorer inspired by the characteristics of Lord Hanuman. Now, as per the latest grapevine, Priyanka Chopra has been locked in as the female lead in SSMB28. If reports are to be believed this project will be marking her return to Indian cinema after a six-year hiatus. Rajamouli and Mahesh Babu's film is scheduled to go on floors in April 2025.

A source closer to the project was quoted by Pinkvilla that, Rajamouli’s top choice for the project is Priyanka due to her global appeal. “The film is in the final stages of writing and is all set to go on floors in April 2025. SS Rajamouli was looking for a female lead with global presence, and who better than Priyanka to play the lead role. The filmmaker had multiple meetings with PC over the last 6 months, and the energies have aligned for both the stakeholders."

The source further quoted that Priyanka Chopra is excited to collaborate with a maverick like SS Rajamouli and partner with Mahesh Babu to create an adventure like never before. "It’s an unchartered territory for her as well, and the character has scope for a lot of action along with the leading man – Mahesh Babu. It’s a well-crafted role, and Priyanka has already started her prep for the film," the source said. 

As per other reports, SSMB28 will involve extensive shooting until the end of 2026, and it is expected to release in 2027. Reportedly, Rajamouli is in talks with partnerships of major global studios like Disney and Sony. The movie will shot in the state-of-the-art studios in India and the US, as well as the African forests.
