According to Entertainment Weekly, the hit 1985 film, starring Val Kilmer, depicted the story of an eccentric genius mentoring a brilliant young student in the ways of having fun.

However, the new version would be turned into a modern-day workplace comedy focusing on the relationship of two incompatible co-workers, CNet reported. The sitcom will be penned by writers David King and Craig DiGregorio. 3 Arts Entertainment and Sony TV are also onboard to give Real Genius a television makeover.
