Accused of assault and rape, Bollywood actor Inder Kumar granted bail

After being accused and arrested for raping and assaulting a 23-year-old model, Bollywood actor Inder Kumar Saraf was granted bail by Mumbai sessions court, He has been granted bail by the sessions court on Monday on a bond of Rs 30,000.

The 23-year-old model filed an FIR complaint in the Versova Police Station, accusing the actor of raping her with false hopes of giving her roles in Bollywood movies. The model, who is rumoured to be Inder Kumar's girlfriend, allegedly told the cops that the actor had assaulted and hit her with a beer bottle and also burnt her with his cigarettes in his flat in suburban Andheri since last night.  

The actor was arrested on April 25 and kept in judicial custody under sections 376 (rape), 324 (causing grievous hurt) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.

The medical report of the victim confirmed rape and stated that she was brutalised. The report shows that the victim had cigarette burn marks on her neck and shoulder and marks of her being stabbed with a sharp object. The cops also confirmed the cut marks and burns wounds on the victim’s body indicating that she was tortured by the actor.

According to the police, during Inder's interrogation, the actor claimed he had consensual sex with the model and that he also has a troubled relationship with his wife due to which the couple were living separately in the same building. The police added that the actor and his wife had heated arguments over several issues earlier following which she had been to police station also complaining against Saraf.

However, at the time of his arrest, Inder Kumar said,"The girl is a struggler and not to be given any importance. I was on a hi and bye terms with her. In fact, she and my wife Pallavi had a big fight. I have sorted things out with my wife and she is with me. The girl has gone and filed a complaint, but what she is saying is untrue.”

Meanwhile, the actor's wife, Pallavi, defended her husband claiming that the model had been relentlessly pursuing her husband and also been sending messages on his phone. She claimed that she had a fight with her husband over the issue and left their house with their child and went to her mother's house in the same apartment.

"For two days she was in the apartment and was seen cheerfully going out of the apartment to buy alcohol and order food. If she was raped in captivity, could she have done all this?" Pallavi asked.

Apart from being a close friend of Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, Inder kumar has also worked in films like Wanted, Maa Tujhhe Salaam, Baaghi, Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi, Masoom and several other films.
