The first and the only song from '2.0' finally got released on November 24. Sharing the link of the Hindi version of 'Endhira Logathu Sundariye', Karan Johar tweeted, "#TuHiRe is an exceptional mix of tech & music by the maestro @arrahman!"
Well, Karan is a self-admitted and a habitual social-media liar. "If I am really gushing means I am not completely lying but if its all compressed in one or maximum two tweets and there are big usage of words, then I am definitely lying," the wise man once revealed in an interview.
And, going by Karan's own lie-o-barometer, his recent one seems to be one of those 'forced' tweets. For 'Tu Hi Re' is anything but 'exceptional'.
It is composed by music maestro AR Rahman and that's the most unfortunate part. Believe me you, I checked his name thrice and still couldn't believe that the song has actually come out from the same genius who has given us gems like, 'Tu Hi Re', 'Dil Se Re', 'Chanda Re', 'Vande Matram', in the past. The '90s kid inside me is crying while I write this, but 2.0's 'Tu Hi Re' is the worst AR Rahman song I have ever heard.
But, the composition is not the only thing to be blamed, here. With mindless lyrics like, 'Tu Hi Re Tu Hi Re Battery Hai, Discharge Na Hona Kabhi', Abbas Tyrewala seems to be giving an open-challenge to Dhinchak Pooja. He appears to be trying a little too hard to fit in techology in a romantic track. The song has been sung by Armaan Malik and Shashaa Tirupati and they have done a fair job at pulling off this non-sensical robot ballad.
Rajinikanth and Amy Jackson display zero chemistry. Amy looks convincing as a robot and her's are the most innovative and vibrant robot costumes we have ever seen, but then it's just that. They have incorporated the oh-so-last-season mannequin challenge and the Boom Floss challenge in the choregraphy, but that too doesn't appear to help.
Bosco Martis, who has conceptualised the song, was however all praises for the two. “The way Rajini sir functions is incredible. He is always attentive and ready to learn new things. Although dance may not be his forte, he never questioned me or insisted that any of the steps should be changed. His professionalism is admirable," he earlier told DNA After Hrs. Talking about Amy, he said, “She is hardworking and came to the set thoroughly prepared. Though the dance style was out of her comfort zone, she executed it well,”
Bosco added, “It has been shot in 3D. The whole process of filming it was exciting because we could explore so much. The moves are quite dramatic and it captures the vibe of the sci-fi. Shankar sir knew exactly what he wanted.”
Credit where it's due, we can't deny how 'lit' the video looks. The mind-boggling sets are the highlight of 'Tu Hi Re'. Reportedly, the makers spent a whopping Rs 20 crore on this song itself and boy does it show! Everything from Rajinikath's futuristic bike, to the robot discotheque, is insanely beautiful. If two robots were to go on a date, they would have definitely picked this set. It almost looks like a robot heaven!

Turns out, the song was filmed over a span of 10 days and four massive sets were erected for the same. “This is by far the biggest track ever made in Indian cinema, in terms of scale and budget. As this is the only number in the film, Shankar wanted it to stand out,” a source revealed.
Directed by Shankar, 2.0 also features Adil Hussain, Sudhanshu Pandey and Akshay Kumar in important roles. The film is slated to be released on November 29, this year.
