The highest award and reward from India – the Bharat Ratna and Padma awards were held recently. Most people who have received their award had their due long coming. Unfortunately a gem, Bhupen Hazarika, received the Bharat Ratna award eight years after his death. He was awarded with former President of India Pranab Mukherjee and activist Nanaji Deshmukh.
Hiralal Yadav, who has recorded songs for UNESCO too, received his Padma Shri award, which has made his son happy. Even trans-woman dancer Nartaki Natraj was honoured with the same title. Shri Balwant Moreshwar Purandare was the only artist,96, who was honoured Padma Vibhushan.
Along with them, the more known actors/singers also received the honours – in Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan. Among them were Mohanlal, Prabhu Deva and Shankar Mahadevan. Back in Bollywood, Manoj Bajpayee and late Kader Khan also received the award.
Here’s the whole list of well-known actors and singers who were honoured with the Padma awards:
1. Shri Mohanlal Viswanathan Nair

Malayalam superstar Mohanlal received the highest honur among all the artists. The Keralite bagged the Padma Bhushan.
Along with him, scientist Nambi Narayan was also honoured with the same title. Narayan's story is going to be made into a trilingual film which will mark R. Madhavan's debut as a director. He is also acting in the film which is titled 'Rocketry'.
2. Shri Prabhu Deva

Known for his mind-blowing choreography, Prabhu Deva is also an actor-director. Born in Karnataka, he made his name in Bollywood and South Industry equally. In Bollywood, he is known for his dance moves as much as he is known for directing Salman Khan starrer Wanted.
3. Shri Shankar Mahadevan Narayan
)
Best known for his ingle Breathless, Shankar Mahadevan has sustained in Bollywood for over two decades. Born to a Tamil Iyer family in Mumbai, Mharashtra, he has composed tunes not only for Bollywood and South songs but has also grown as an artist. He now has a learning app for all aspiring singers.
4. Shri Manoj Bajpayee

Having received his due years after working in Bollywood with Rajneeti, followed by Gangs Of Wasseypur, Manoj Bajpayee has proved his worth in Bollywood. He thus received the Padma Shri award like most others.
5. Shri Kader Khan
)
Kader Khan unfortunately died earlier this month and was buried in Canada by his sons. Post his demise, the multi-talented actor and writer was honoured with Padma Shri.
