The 23-year-old Bengali, whose parents moved from Calcutta to Swindon in 2004, can speak five languages and has a genius-level IQ – 146. She is also a junior doctor and wears both hats with elan.

Dr Mukherjee wrote last night her on Instagram handle: “Still getting used to being (sic) the first British Indian Miss England. I am very proud to be representing Miss England and Miss world.”

She also has two medical degrees, speaks five languages (which is apt given Bhasha means language in Bengali), won the pageant in Newcastle.

However, that wasn’t the end of it as she took a train at 4 AM to reach her new job at the Pilgrim NHS Hospital in Boston, Lincolnshire.

She told The Mail: “I start work today and I'm supposed to be moving house to a brand new city on Sunday.  It's been really nerve wracking, I couldn't tell if I was more nervous about the competition or about starting my job as a junior doctor' she said on the way to work this morning.

Celebrating qualifying as a doctor, she wrote: “Can’t decide what's better, having an official ID with Dr before my name or Miss England. Surreal af.”

With her mother Mita and father Durga and brother Arya, she moved to Swindon from Kolkata in 2004.

Her father, a chef who is separated from her mother said that he was very proud of her achievement.

Meanwhile, her mother revealed that as a kid she was quiet academic and eccentric and the other kids didn’t understand her.

Her teachers however spoke very highly of her and she got 10 As in her GCSEs.
