Actress Gautami made her debut in cinema at the age of 16 with a small role in the Telugu film Dhaayamayadu (1987). After this, she made her debut as a heroine with the film Gandhinagar Rendava Veethi. Her first Tamil film was Rajinikanth's Guru Shishan. Later she focused on Telugu and Kannada language films.
