The hype and mania surrounding the film is not surprising, considering the enormous fan following that the Thalaivar has. The buzz for Kabali began weeks before the film's release. Fans gave their superstar a rousing welcome outside film theatres and on social media.

While some wore masks and danced to the tune of Neruppa Da, some were spotted pouring milk on posters and cut-outs of Rajinikanth's photo in a show of reverence.
