The Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Sidhhant Chaturvedi, Kalki Koechlin and Vijay Verma starrer might be remade in the Telugu film industry soon. In fact news about the Telugu makers planning to acquire rights for the remake made rounds right after 'Gully Boy' hit the theatre screens on Valentine's Day this year.

However there is more update to the news. If certain news reports are to be taken into consideration, then Sai Dharam Tej was initially going to feature in the movie, but then names like Rana Daggubati and Vijay Deverakonda started popping up.

Whether the news is true or no, here's a detailed report on what we know yet:

Several news reports (including IB Times) have claimed that mega producer Allu Aravind has acquired rights for Telugu remake of Ranveer Singh-Alia Bhatt starrer 'Gully Boy'. Aravind's banner Geeth Arts is expected to make an announcement about the film and its cast soon.

That very report on IB Times claimed that Sai Dharam Tej was approached to reprise the role played by Ranveer Singh.

'Baahubali' actor Rana Daggubati's name was also linked to the project. He however told BollywoodLife over a poll they conducted, “Leave me alone. I do not have that talent.”

Vijay Deverakonda's name was linked to the project for a long time. A source however clarified to SilverScreen, “This news is not true, they are just rumours. There has been no confirmation regarding a Telugu remake or Vijay Devarakonda’s participation.”

Zoya Akhtar directed the film. She wrote the screenplay along with her 'Tiger Baby' co-producer Reema Kagti. The movie is also co-produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhawani's Excel Entertainment.
