In a shocking piece of news, Tamil television actress VJ Chithra, 28, was found dead at a hotel room in Nazarethpettai, Chennai. The star, who is known for her portrayal as Mullai in Pandian Stores, alleged died by suicide, as per a report in Zoom TV. She was reportedly found hanging from the ceiling fan in her room.
As per the report, Chithra recently got engaged to businessman Hemanth.
According to reports, Chithra had wrapped up shooting at EVP Film City on Tuesday at around 2:30 am after which she returned to the hotel where she was staying with her fiance Hemanth.
In his statement to the police, Hemanth has claimed that Chithra told him she was going for a bath soon after she returned from the shoot. However, when she didn't come out for a long time and nor did she respond to the knocking on the door, he said. That's when Hemanth called the hotel staff to open the door with a duplicate key. Upon opening the door, Chitra was reportedly found hanging from the ceiling fan.
"Nazarethpettai police have filed a case and are investigating the matter", reads a report by India Glitz.
Chithra's family is yet to release an official statement regarding her untimely death.
