Rajinikanth starrer 'Annaatthe' shoot postponed after crew members test COVID positive

It was in the second week of December that the film's shooting had resumed after it got delayed due to the coronavirus-induced lockdown.

On Wednesday, superstar Rajinikanth starrer 'Annaatthe's' shoot was postponed after four crew members tested positive for COVID-19 in routine testing that was conducted on the sets. Much to the relief of the fans and production house, Thalaiva, 70, and other crew members of the film's team tested negative for the virus, as per an announcement made by Sun pictures on their verified Twitter handle. The announcement added that shooting for the upcoming film has been postponed to ensure the safety of the cast and crew members.

The announcement read, "Announcement: During routine testing at #Annaathe shoot 4 crew members have tested positive for Covid19. Superstar @rajinikanth and other crew members have tested negative. To ensure utmost safety #Annaatthe shooting has been postponed (sic)."

The shooting of the film had come to a halt in February this year. It was in the second week of December that the film's shooting had resumed after it got further delayed due to the coronavirus-induced lockdown and restrictions. Rajinikanth had flown down to Hyderabad along with his daughter Aishwarya Rajinikanth and actress Nayanthara, who will be seen alongside the thespian in the film.

As per reports, the superstar had taken off for Hyderabad a day after his 70th birthday. Consequently, to celebrate Thalaiva's birthday, the cast and crew members had arranged for a small post-birthday celebration for him, video of which had gone viral on social media. In the video, the superstar could be seen cutting a birthday cake while crew members marked his special day.  

Directed by Siruthai Siva, the movie also stars Keerthy Suresh, Prakash Raj, Khushbu Sundar and Meena.
