'We had many common points to talk about': Prajakta Koli aka MostlySane on interviewing YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki

YouTube content creator Prajakta Koli, better known as MostlySane, cannot contain her excitement as she has just put out her video interviewing none other than the video platform's CEO, Susan Wojcicki, who's also one of the founders of Google. The 'Viral Queen of 2018' talks about the big moment apart from collaborating with Brie Larson, Samuel Jackson and a whole lot of big Bollywood names. She also shares who her favourite collaborator has been and favourite Indian YouTubers.

How did the interview come about?

I wouldn't say that it was my idea or that I asked for it and got it. I always wanted to do this interview because, come on, it's Susan Wojcicki and how could I reach out to someone of her stature? My partner managers from YouTube were super supportive. When Susan was flying down, they said we think you should meet her and let's see if we can do an interview or video featuring her. They spoke to her team and they agreed. The discussions started a while ago because this is the first creator interaction globally. She hasn't done one with anyone – so there was no pressure there.

How was the experience of sitting face-to-face with her?

She is so amazing and such an inspiration – starting Google in her garage and how it grew from three to 100,000 employees giant. She was instrumental in Google acquiring YouTube and was the only person in the organisation saying it. We had so many common points such as what we feel about girl education, speaking against hate speech, safer internet and so on. We had chai all the time, which made everything better.

Tell us about being the only one to be invited by Marvel India to collaborate with the cast of Captain Marvel—Brie Larson and Samuel Jackson...

I'm a new Marvel fan and it's crazy how it came together and spending time watching the Universe started just a few months ago. So, when the opportunity came about, I was like, 'Oh, my God!' I was given complete freedom to do the video the way I wanted. Brie and Samuel were so chill, whatever little time I got to chat with them. That's the best part about my work – meeting these amazing people all over the world and having conversations with them.

From all the Indian and international celebs you have collaborated with, who has been the most fun one?

My fear always was that I have held certain celebs in such high regards and if they don't turn out to be like that, it would be such a downer. But, everyone has been the sweetest – Ayushmann Khurrana, Saif Ali Khan, Kajol, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui or John Abraham. But, I think I liked my video with Ayushmann the most. It was actually collaborative because we both sat down and worked on it, he gave me his inputs in the script. The shoot was really quick and the video did really well.

What else are you working on?

MostlySane is a full-time job. I wish I had a few extra hours in the day but that's it right now.

Who are the Indian creators you follow on YouTube?

I love Bhuvan Bam, Ashish Chanchlani and I've always been a big fan of Superwoman (Lilly Singh). Kavita's Kitchen is really good. I had the pleasure of travelling with Mumbaikar Nikhil and enjoy his content. The Flying Beast and CarryMinati are great too. I'm so happy to be in a position where I can say, 'Arre, yeh sab toh friends hain!' after being such a fan of their work. When we meet, we chill. Actually, these are some of the names. It's a long list.
