You started your career playing demure characters... are you consciously trying to change that image now? There has been a gradual transformation for me. The character I am playing in my new film was challenging and exciting. And I think the best thing about Race 2 was the variety it gave me as an actress. The action that I got to do was something that I had to work on, because it was about doing your own stunts, it was about making it look authentic.

Do you think working in an action-oriented film will take you a step further in your career? It’s an important role for me. It is a step higher than all the other roles that I have done. Especially for me, this character in the movie, wasn’t about the glamour. They have introduced action for the actresses in this film, which is something that the audience did not see in the prequel.

Tell us more about working with an ensemble cast?Well, the cat fights that are spoken about are definitely hyped. When you meet actresses you realise the situation is totally different. When I did my first multi-starrer, which was Housefull 2 , I had heard so many stories about cat fights that I wondered how I would survive them. But when I met my female co-stars, the situation was very different. I don’t know why some actresses are misunderstood. There’s a misconception that we are these evil beings who are also divas. I don’t think we are like that. Maybe there are one or two instances, but that does not mean we all have to bear the brunt.

So do you often bond with actresses you work with?It is actually amazing when you can bond with an actress because there’s so much two actresses have in common and there’s so much to talk about and vent. I also believe it is about making the effort. It is important to be social. I have noticed that people in Bollywood are a little bit cautious and reserved. As an actor, we don’t know who to trust and that can be difficult. In a multi-starrer it’s even more important to take that initiative. You have to put in effort and show that you are nice and you will be received well. A movie goes on for months, we can’t sit on the fact that we don’t get along. Why waste so many months of your life doing that, when you can make it an enjoyable experience for everyone concerned.
