I want to be Miss World, confesses Miss India-World Navneet Kaur Dhillon

Tell us about yourself.
I was born in Ambala  and my dad was an army officer so I have grown up all over the country,

What are your hobbies?
I love horse riding, photography, swimming and trekking. I love being outdoors!

Any Bollywood plans?
Yes why not, if I get a good director, a nice script and a  co-star to work with.

Tell us about the cause you are fighting for?
I just finished work raising awareness against contaminated water. I went to Krishnagiri in Tamil Nadu where I stayed in a village for two days and spent time with families.  I saw how they live, the kind of water they use and if they know about the consequences of using unsafe water. Most of the diseases today are waterborne.

How has the journey been so far?
The entire journey has been wonderful. I come from a small village called Katwa in Haryana.  Before this, I was living in Patiala with my mom, doing my graduation. Coming all the way to Mumbai and living here all alone, feels good. I feel confident and I believe in myself a lot more today.

How did you feel when you won Miss India?
I cannot remember that moment, I still don’t recall the exact feeling even when I see that on TV. It was the most beautiful and wonderful moment of my life. It was really special and I had worked really hard for that. My parents were there, I had tears in my eyes. To feel that again and have a moment better than that would be to win Miss World.

What gives you an edge over the other contestants in Miss World?
I come from an army background. Every two years my father would be posted elsewhere. Living in villages, small towns, in metros I would say that gives me an edge over the others.

Knowing different mindsets, growing up amongst different cultures, and the facilities that were made available to us like sports complexes etc, has shaped me. I feel that really helps in the overall upbringing and personality grooming of a person.

What beauty/fitness regime would you suggest for our readers?
We really need to take care of our skin, our hair, specially our fitness. When you are fit, you think beautiful and when you think beautiful you look good!

What has worked or works for you?
I would say the right diet and exercise is my beauty regime.

I really take care of my skin and my hair and that helps me to look good all the time. My skin is naturally good, with God’s grace but I do drink lots and lots of water so that helps. For my hair, I visit hair spa. Nails also need to be kept clean. It’s not easy to maintain them so I get nail gels or acrylic gels that are an  easy way to keep my nails looking good.

What does fashion mean to you?
Fashion means being comfortable, normally if I am out I wear a pair of jeans and a T-shirt in which I am comfortable and also looks good. Not that I have to be dressy and decked up all the time but I need to be comfortable!

What will you do if you win the Miss World title?
The first thing I will do is hug my parents, my brother. Spend time with them. I would also like to spend time with all those people who have been a part of this process for the past five months my trainers, my groomers and my friends. I would like to go enjoy myself with them.

What inspired you to take part in the pageant?
I was a child, and when Aishwarya Rai won Miss World. My father was watching that show on TV, he said when my daughter grows up, she will become Miss World. After that whenever anyone asked me what I wanted to be I always said ‘I want to become Miss World when I grow up!’. Forget Miss India I directly wanted to become Miss World! Miss India is a stepping stone for me to win Miss World.
