21 Questions with Harshvardhan Kapoor and Saiyami Kher
Here’s a rapid-fire round with the Mirzya stars...
Mirzya, that releases today, will introduce two new faces in the industry — Harshvardhan Kapoor and Saiyami Kher. Both of them are very different from each other — Saiyami has this old-world charm whereas Harsh is very new-age, up-to-date about everything in life. But their bonding is for everyone to see.

1. Your real-life hero is...
Saiyami: Sachin Tendulkar! I love him. He inspires me so much. Not many know that I love sports and I am very good at it. So yeah, he’s my hero.Harsh: Can I be honest? I don’t have heroes!
2. Your favourite actor on screen would be...
S: Amitabh Bachchan. There’s no one better than him. H: From Bollywood or Hollywood? I would pick Brad Pitt and Ryan Gosling. They are fab artistes.
3. One thing you learnt while working on Mirzya is...
S: How little I know and how much I need to learn...H: To keep going.. no matter what!
4. One thing you would love to change about yourself...
H: I sleep too much! S: (Thinks) Maybe not be so emotional...H: (Cuts in) And not be so idealistic about romance!S: I don’t want to change. I like it.
5. If you had to play a superhero on screen, you would be...
S: I have to be a girl, so Wonder Woman! H: I think I’m playing Bhavesh Joshi, which is more a vigilante film and heroic, even if not a superhero.
6. One Bollywood star you are dying to work with..
S: Amitabh Bachchan. I envy Shraddha because she did Teen Patti with him! (Smiles)H: Priyanka Chopra. I love her!
7. One actor of this generation you think you will make an amazing jodi with...
S: Ranbir Kapoor, possibly!H: Maybe, Alia!
8. A contemporary actor whose work you love...
H: I love the choices that Ranbir Kapoor makes. Also, Ranveer Singh was exceptional in Lootera. S: I love Alia. I think she’s by far the best in the current lot. No one can deny that. She can pull off any role. And I think Highway will always remain a benchmark for me as a performer.
9. If you were given a chance to pack your bags and do anything you can for a day, you would...
H: Be a writer who travels.S: Go to Ladakh for a trek!
10. One thing you would love to change in this industry...
H: Promoting films at shopping malls. (Laughs out loud)S: Promoting films. I just want people to watch it. I don’t like these tacky promotions.H: I think what she’s trying to say is that sitting down and talking to somebody like this is great. But I think it will get to a point where the marketing teams will just put out the trailer and ask us to talk to people, and then people will go to see the film. I think there’s a lot of unnecessary things that people do today which aren’t required.
11. What if a person of the same sex hit on you?
S: I will accept it with gratitude. Compliments are compliments, yaar!H: I will realise that I have a homosexual fan following which is amazing and is great!
12. Something you would never do on screen
Both of them: Never say never!
13. Strangest rumour you have heard about yourself...
H: That I am rude to journalists, that I’m dating lots of people I’m not. S: I haven’t heard any! (suddenly remembers) Oh yeah, there’s one. People claim that I’m dating this politican.H: (Cuts in) who’s actually a childhood friend of hers...
14. One prank you played on someone...
S: I threw my hairdresser into a lake! H: I haven’t really played any pranks.S: He’s a good boy. (Smiles)
15. A prank someone else has played on you?
S: Generally, I am the one playing it. So nobody dares to play a prank on me.H: Nothing!
16. The weirdest thing you’ve faced at work till date...
S: I wasn’t a very filmi kid, to be honest. I was brought up in Nagpur, away from showbiz. Not many knew who I was and who my aunts were. So there was one scumbag who had tried to proposition me over the phone. He didn’t know about my lineage and thought I would fall for his trap. I don’t know if that’s what you call the casting couch, but the reality is that many people do misuse their power in a lot of ways. H: You’re asking me about casting couch? No, I haven’t been on one yet. (Smiles)
17. One thing that separates you from your contemporaries?
H: The want to take risks with every film. S: My love for the old world.
18. Your secret vice is...
H: I’m addicted to playing poker. S: Chocolate maybe! That’s the only vice I have!
19.One secret no-one knows...
S: I am in love with Gulzar saab. H: I’ve already told you something which I haven’t told anyone. (Check out our next story on Harsh)
20. Staying single or committed in love...
S: Being committed to who I love.H: For me, it would be staying single.
21. Your idea of a perfect date?
H: For me, it’s taking a girl to dinner and talking and having a glass of wine.S: Going for a trek together!H: That is so romantic, ya.
