Golden Globes 2016: 'The Revenant' takes top honours; Leonardo DiCaprio wins Best Actor, Brie Larson wins Best Actress
Awards season begins with a booze party!
Awards season in Hollywood kicks off today with the Golden Globes. Carol, starring Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara, leads the drama film category with five nominations, while The Big Short leads comedy film category with four nods. In TV, the networks face off with the streaming services, as Netflix drama Narcos and Amazon's comedy Transparent dominate key categories. However, with no clear favourites in most categories this year, the wins today will lay the odds for the Oscars, which will be held next month.
When it comes to award shows, the Globes are the loudest, funniest party of the year... with booze. And this year, it's got Ricky Gervais. A three-time host, the British comedian is known for sharp comedic barbs aimed at celebrities in the audience and show business in general. His return to hosting the ceremony promises several well-placed barbs at show business and its top players. If this goes like his previous gigs, be prepared to see a lot of celebrities squirm in their seats. This will be fun.

The award is given for "outstanding contributions to the world of entertainment". Previous recipients include Steven Speiberg, Martin Scorsese, Morgan Freeman, Robin Williams and Robert DeNiro.
Best director- Alejandro González Iñárritu for The Revenant
Iñárritu ​snags the Globe that eluded him last year.
Best TV Series: Drama- Mr. Robot
Second win for Mr. Robot! This is a big night for the show.
Best Original Song: Motion Picture- Sam Smith's "Writing's On The Wall" for Spectre

Best Foreign Language Film- Son of Saul (Hungary)
