Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao also expressed grief over Prasad's demise and remembered his services in various posts in the state and Central governments, a release from the Chief Minister's Office said.

Prasad, who was the additional secretary and media adviser to former Prime Minister P V Narasimha Rao, died of cardiac arrest at a hospital here in the wee hours today. He was 77.

He was an IAS officer of Andhra Pradesh cadre and held several important posts, including that of the executive officer of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD).

He also served as the chairman of Vizag Port Trust during his illustrious career.
