The application process for the post of junior engineer (JE) in civil, mechanical, electrical, and quantity surveying and contract streams has been invited by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC). The last date for submitting the application is October 30. All interested candidates can apply on ssc.nic.in, the website of the Staff Selection Commission. Online payment for the application can be made till November 1 and for the offline challan till November 3.

Applicants need to pass a computer-based test to become eligible for the job. The test is scheduled to be held from March 22 to 25. Those who clear this test will be called for the second paper of which dates will be announced. Thereafter, candidates will be given a final nod for the job that will fetch them a salary between Rs 35400 - Rs 1,12,400.

Eligibility Criteria

Person of Indian nationality can apply. He or she must have a degree in a relevant stream of engineering. Candidates having a three-year diploma with two years of work experience are also eligible to apply for the job.

The age limit for most jobs is capped at 30 years. It is only the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) and Central Water Commission where the age limit is a little higher at 32.

Based on the performance in both the papers (Paper I-paper II) candidates will be shortlisted and allotted ministries or departments or organizations.
