Schools Reopening: THESE states are resuming offline classes in schools from today, check SOPs here

As the number of COVID-19 cases drops across the country, many state governments have taken the decision to reopen the schools and resume offline classes for the students from today, September 1. Students from these states have expressed their delight at the resumption of classes after the schools were shut down for over a year due to the pandemic.

Even though some states have decided to reopen the schools from today, many governments have taken the decision to conduct offline and online classes simultaneously, so that it is not mandatory for the students to appear for physical classes on the school premises.

State governments have also decided to issue several COVID-19 safety guidelines to all the schools while reopening to make sure that the students and staff remain safe from coronavirus as offline classes resume. Check the full list of states reopening schools below.

List of states reopening schools from today

Delhi

The schools, coaching institutes, and colleges in Delhi can reopen from today and resume physical classes, as per the AAP government. The schools are only reopening for students of Classes 9 to 12 in the national capital, and attendance for physical classes has not been made mandatory.

Uttar Pradesh

The schools in Uttar Pradesh are resuming physical classes for the students of Classes 1 to 5 from today, with all the required COVID safety measures put in place by the administration. The schools in UP had already reopened for the students of Classes 9 to 12 and Classes 6 to 8 from August 16 and 23, respectively.

Madhya Pradesh

The government of Madhya Pradesh has decided to reopen the schools for offline classes for the students of Classes 6 to 12 from today. All students attending offline classes will have to get a consent form signed by their parents and submit it to the school administration, as per the guidelines.

Telangana

According to the judgment issued by Telangana High Court, the schools in the state have been allowed to reopen from today. As per the court, no student shall be forced to attend physical classes for the time being, and all the government residential schools in the state will remain closed for now.

Rajasthan

The government of Rajashtan has decided to reopen the schools in the state from today, for offline classes. The schools are reopening in a phase-wise manner, where the classes for students of Class 9 to 12 are resuming from today. All schools will have to follow the SOPs issued by the government.

Tamil Nadu

The government of Tamil Nadu has decided to resume the offline classes for Class 9 to 12 students in schools, final year college students, and polytechnic students from today. The medical colleges and professional colleges in the state are also reopening from today, September 1.

SOPs issued by states for schools reopening

• Educational institutes have to conduct thermal checks on the entries of the schools to make sure that students are not showing any symptoms of COVID-19.
• All staff members and students are supposed to wear masks at all times inside the school premises.
• All schools should have basic medical facilities in case any staff member or student shows symptoms of coronavirus.
• The educational institutes in containment zones will remain closed till the situation in their areas doesn’t improve.
• It is not mandatory for the students to attend offline classes for now. They also have to provision to stay at home and attend online classes for now.
• Most of the schools are reopening with only 50 percent capacity in the classrooms per session. They have been asked to schedule their timetables according to this.
• Many schools have asked students to get a consent form signed by their parents if they wish to attend offline classes.
• The Tamil Nadu government has allowed school and college students to travel without a bus pass (for free) from today, as offline classes are resuming.
