Meet Apoorva Tripathi who studied at home and secured AIR 68 in UPSC CSE 2020

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) released its Civil Services Exam 2020 results on Friday (September 24). This year, Shubham Kumar from Bihar aced the exam securing the top position. While Jagrati Awasthi and Ankita Jain secured second and third positions. 

While these guys aced the exam, we should not forget the efforts of those who weren't that far behind them. Apoorva Tripathi from Prayagraj secured the 68th rank in the UPSC CSE exam 2020. This was her second attempt and her optional subject was Geography. Keep in mind, she cleared the exam without coaching. 

The 25-year-old aspirant completed her class 12 from YMCA Centenary School and College in 2013 with 84 per cent marks and later went on to pursue B.Tech in 2018 from Kanpur University. Apoorva began her preparation for civil services at home in August 2018.

For future aspirants of civil services, Apoorva suggests that students go through previous years' question papers. Apart from NCERT and reference books for general studies, make better use of the website content for current affairs. She believes that preparation for civil services cannot be done overnight, it needs to be done regularly. 

Apoorva's family hails from Malaon village of Bansgaon tehsil of Gorakhpur. Her father, Dinesh Tripathi is an executive engineer in the Irrigation Department and has been living in Ganganagar Rajapur in Prayagraj since the year 2000. Her mother, Seema Tripathi is a housewife and her younger sister Anjali is doing B.Sc and younger brother Animesh is doing B.Tech.

Not only Civil Services, in fact, Apoorva cleared a number of exams this year. She was selected for the post of Naib Tehsildar in the PCS 2019, the result was declared on February 17 this year, she also cleared the exam for PCS 2020.
