Meet Anil Basak from Kishanganj, who secured AIR 45 in UPSC CSE 2020

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) results were eagerly awaited across the country and that wait finally ended on September 24. A total of 761 candidates passed the exam, of which 545 are males and 216 are females. 

Among the toppers is Anil Basak, who secured All India Rank 45 in the UPSC CSE this year and let us know about his inspirational story.

By making the title of Robert Schuller's book, 'Tough time do not last, but tough people do’ his mantra, Anil Basak secured 45th rank in UPSC examination. The story of Anil, a resident of Kishanganj, Bihar, reaching the heights of success is very inspiring for so many reasons. 

Anil got success in the UPSC exam on his third attempt. In the first attempt, he was not able to clear the pre-examination. But in the second attempt, he got 616th rank. Even after this, he did not give up and kept on trying. He appeared in the Civil Services Examination for the third time and secured 45th rank. 

There was a time when his father, Binod Basak used to sell clothes from village to village. His father's life was very difficult. Anil did not want his father to struggle anymore. Anil is the second person in the entire family to have passed class 10th. And it is obvious that he is the first one to achieve success in the UPSC exam, from his family. 

After 2018, he did not take coaching from any institute because of bad financial conditions. Anil was selected for civil engineering in IIT Delhi, in the year 2014. After some time, he started preparing for UPSC. He gives credit for his success to his family and friends.
