The schools in Kerala are set to reopen for physical classes for the students of Classes 1 to 7 and Classes 10 and 12.

States across the country are now slowly resuming the conduction of physical classes in their jurisdictions as the number of COVID cases across the country is decreasing. The government of Kerala has also decided to take a similar decision regarding the reopening of schools.
The government of Kerala has decided to reopen the schools for the students of Classes 1 to 7 and Classes 10 and 12 for physical lessons, from November 1. The state government further said that the schools will reopen for other classes from November 15.
This decision was announced by the government of Kerala after Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan chaired a high-level meeting with officials, regarding the COVID situation in the state. According to this meeting, the COVID situation in this state allows the resumption of physical classes from November.

Apart from the reopening of schools in Kerala, the state government has also decided to resume physical classes in colleges and universities in the state. The higher educational institutes in the state will reopen from October 4, for the students in the final semester of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
Schools and colleges across the state will have to follow the COVID guidelines issued by the government strictly. Some of the basic guidelines for educational institutes in the usage of a mask at all times on the premises and maintaining proper social distancing in classrooms and all the other common areas.
Students must also note that for the time being, the schools will reopen in a phased manner and the seating arrangements in classrooms will also be changed to make sure that they are not cramped and there is a proper distance between each student coming for physical classes.
As per the government data, Kerala reported 19,352 fresh COVID-19 cases on Saturday, along with 143 deaths. This takes the total number of cases in the state to 44,88,840 and the death toll to 23,439. Currently, the number of recoveries is outnumbering the cases.
