According to sources, the plan for conducting JEE Mains and NEET exams 2021 has been made at the PMO level and an announcement could be made soon.
After the cancellation of Class 12 board exams of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) and several other state boards, students are no awaiting a decision on the JEE (Joint Entrance Exam) Men's and NEET (National Eligibility Entrance Test) 2021.
The Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Mains is being conducted four times a year from this session onwards to offer flexibility to students and a chance to improve their scores. The first phase in February was followed by the second in March. Currently, the third session of JEE Mains - which was cancelled - could now be held around July 25 and the fourth session could be held before August 15.
According to sources in the Education Ministry, the entire plan for conducting JEE Mains and NEET 2021 has been made at the PMO level and an announcement could be made soon.
The JEE Mains will be a computer-based exam and students could be called on different days to take the exams over a period of three-four days to avoid over-crowding at exam centres.
Meanwhile, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has also drawn a complete blueprint for the NEET 2021. The NEET 2021 exams - earlier scheduled to be held in early August - could be held in the last week of August or in the first week of September. The entire examination is in pen-paper mode.
Meanwhile, a high-level committee of the Madras High Court would be analysing the impact of the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) on aspirants from the socially disadvantaged sections in medical admissions, the Tamil Nadu government said.
The panel led by retired judge AK Rajan would study the data related to medical admissions in the state and make necessary recommendations within a month to safeguard the interests of students from the backward sections, the state government added.
