JEE Advanced 2020: IIT Delhi releases SOPs, COVID-19 advisory for students; all you need to know

The JEE Advanced Examinations are scheduled to be held on September 27, 2020. With the examinations being conducted amid the COVID-19 pandemic, IIT Delhi has released the SOPs and COVID-19 advisory to be followed by the students appearing for the exams.

The JEE Advanced Examinations are scheduled to be held on September 27, 2020. With the examinations being conducted amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi, the conducting body of the examination, has released Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and COVID-19 advisory to be followed by the students appearing for the exams.

Candidates appearing for the exam have to carry their JEE Advanced 2020 examination admit cards. They also have to fill the COVID-19 self-declaration (Undertaking) on the admit card properly.

According to the eligibility criteria, only those students who have qualified the JEE Main exams will be eligible to appear for the JEE Advanced exams.

JEE Advanced 2020: Date and time

The JEE Advanced 2020 examination will be conducted on September 27 in the online mode for a duration of 3 hours in two papers. Paper 1 will be held from 9 AM to 12 PM, while Paper 2 will be held from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM.

SOPs being taken by IIT Delhi

As per the official notification, adequate measures will be implemented for the safety of students without compromising the high standards, sanctity and fairness of conducting the examinations.

Candidates are required to adhere to the guidelines and the new process for social distancing and hygiene to ensure their own safety and health and also of their fellow candidates.

1. The seating arrangements in the examination centre will be sanitised before the exams begin.

2. The equipment in the examination centre including the monitor, keyboard, mouse, webcam, desk and chairs will be sanitised along with the door handles, staircases, railings, lift buttons, wheelchairs etc.

3. Alternate seats will be kept vacant to ensure social distancing. At test centres, where there is sufficient space between seats, a distance of 6 feet will be maintained.

4. Hand sanitisers will be available at entry and inside the test centre at various places for candidates and staff to use.

5. Barcode readers will be available at the entry point to scan the barcode on the admit card. The lab/hall/room number will be informed to the candidate after reading the barcode.

6. Scribble pads will be kept at all desks before the start of each paper by invigilators wearing gloves to ensure hygiene.

COVID-19 advisory for candidates

1. Candidates must wear their own mask at all times and carry their own bottle of sanitiser as well as their own transparent bottle of water.

2. Candidates need to maintain a space of at least 6 feet from each other at all times.

3. Candidates should follow the instructions provided by test centre staff.

4. Discontinuing the past practice, lab/hall/room number will not be displayed outside the test centre to avoid crowding at one place in any situation.

5. Candidates will be required to sanitise their hands by washing with soap and with hand sanitiser before entering the test centre.

6. At the time of entry, the COVID-19 self-declaration (Undertaking) on the admit card, and the body temperature (using thermo guns) will be checked.

7. No candidate will be denied permission to appear for the examination unless she/he violates the COVID-19 directives of Government applicable on the day of the exam.
