Delhi government issues SOP on assessments for nursery till class 8, check details here

In important news for students and their parents in Delhi, the Delhi government has come out with guidelines about the assessments this year. According to these guidelines issued on Wednesday (February 24), the students of up to class 8 in Delhi schools will not have to give offline examinations and they will be graded on their assignments and projects.

The Directorate of Education (DoE) brought out its Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for assessment in the government-run and aided schools during this academic session. It remarked that the teaching and learning activities had to be conducted online as the schools in the city were closed in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.

Here are the guidelines issued by the Delhi government about assessment for students up to class 8:

-All students from Nursery to Class 2 will be promoted to the next class for the next academic session i.e. 2021-22

-For the Kindergarten students and those who are studying till class 2, they will get their marks based on their winter break assignments, responses to online or offline worksheets shared with them through digital platforms or WhatsApp or handed over to parents and guardians in person

-Students from classes 3 to 5 will be assessed on their assignments. 30 marks are allotted to the worksheets and 30 to the winter break assignments. The rest of the 40 marks are allotted to projects and assignments to be provided to them from March 1 to 15

-According to guidelines, students from classes 6 to 8 will be assessed on the basis of worksheets (20 marks) and winter break assignments (30 marks). 50 marks are allotted to projects and assignments given to students between March 1 and March 15

The DoE said that these assessments would try to understand the impact of alternative learning approaches adopted during this time period.
