The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) changed the examination pattern for the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CLET) on Saturday and now the question papers will be set in a way to assess less factual knowledge. The paper will rather focus on more conceptual understanding, application, problem-solving, reasoning, and critical thinking within the syllabus.

The CLET will be conducted in online mode this year, the CBSE said on Saturday an official notice.

“In a bid to enhance the quality of a candidate entering the teaching profession, the Central Teacher Eligibility Test, CTET 2021 will now be conducted during December 2021/ January 2022 in online mode,” the CBSE said.

The online mode will encourage futuristic teachers to become computer literates, the CBSE said, adding that it will also prevent wastage of paper on account of printing question papers and OMR sheets.

The CBSE also revised the syllabus of CLET to inculcate better test material in terms of content and pedagogy. The board said, “A detailed assessment framework with measurable competencies, sample blueprints, and sample questions will be released by the CBSE to enable aspiring candidates to prepare for the CTET examination."

The revised syllabus will help in assessing candidates' understanding of teaching the subject, their pedagogic content knowledge, their knowledge relevant to the subject in the school curriculum. It will also help in assessing candidates' planning of teaching-learning experiences, and assessment methodologies specific to the concept.

The CBSE said that candidates can attempt online mock tests at the board's facilitation centres, which will be set up for free, in their respective districts.
