CBSE Class 10, 12 Board Exams 2021: Latest updates students must know

As lakhs of students across India are preparing to appear in CBSE Class 10, 12 Board Exams 2021, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on April 3 released a statement saying that Post Graduate Teachers (PGTs) and Trained Graduate Teachers (TGTs) have been assigned lower classes and this has resulted in dearth of qualified teachers for evaluation of practicals and assessment of CBSE Class 10, 12 Board Exams 2021 students. 

Issuing a strict warning to schools, the CBSE made it clear that it will view the matter seriously and has asked all its affiliated schools to update names of all the teachers in the Online Affiliated Schools Information System (OASIS). “Quality teachers in sufficient quantity are required to complete both the activities qualitatively and successfully,” the board said.

CBSE said that if a school fails to update data on the OASIS portal then “necessary action” will be taken as per examination by-laws and affiliation by-laws. The CBSE also said that a personal penalty of Rs 50,000 will be imposed on the principal of the school which will be found flouting rules.

CBSE noted that it will not declare Class 10, 12 Board Exams 2021 results for such schools.

The schools have also been directed by schools to conduct practical examinations by examiners appointed for them. The CBSE has said that practical exams which will not be conducted by a CBSE-appointed examiner will be cancelled.

It is to be noted that CBSE practical exams are scheduled from March 1 to June 11 and schools were recently allowed by the CBSE to conduct practical examinations for students affected by COVID-19 later, but the CBSE said that exams must be conducted before June 11.

“If any candidate is absent in practical because of being COVID positive or any family member – mother, father, brother and sister, etc – is reported COVID positive, schools will conduct practical of such candidates at an appropriate time in consultation with the concerned regional officer but latest by June 11, 2021,” CBSE had earlier said.
