Earlier, for admission into in NITs & other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions, apart from qualifying JEE Main, the eligibility was to secure a minimum of 75% marks in XII Board exams or rank among the top 20 percentile in their qualifying examinations.
The Centre on Thursday stated that candidates do not require 75% marks in Class 12 this year for admission to the National Institutes of Technology (NITs) and other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs). The candidates will only require a pass certificate to qualify for Main exams.
Union HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank declared the news on Twitter.
JEE Main 2020 qualified candidates will now only need to obtain a passing certificate in class XII examination irrespective of the marks obtained, Pokhriyal announced on Twitter.
Due to the special circumstances connected to the COVID-19 crisis, Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) has decided to relax the eligibility criterion for admissions to NITs and other CFTIs.

Meanwhile, nearly a dozen students from across the country have moved the Supreme Court against the University Grants Commission (UGC) guidelines regarding the conducting of the terminal semester or final year examinations by the universities.
According to the newly issued revised guidelines to the academic calendar, the final year university examinations must be conducted by the end of September 2020.
