IT companies such as Infosys, TCS and Wipro are planning to recruit around 1 lakh freshers in 2021. Yes, you heard it right! Major IT companies have added nearly 45% more employees in FY21 than the previous fiscal year and it is expected to be the same for FY22 as well.

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), has announced that it wants to get 40,000 freshers in board in FY22 to take its employee count above 5 lakh. Similarly, while HCL Tech is planning to hire 12,000 freshers, Infosys plans to recruit 26,000 freshers.

Not only that, salary hikes and bonuses are being offered by tech companies to retain talent.

While speaking to MoneyControl, Wipro’s Chief Human Resources Officer Saurabh Govil said that the company would hire more freshers in FY22 than the previous year. Wipro had recruited around 9,000 freshers in FY21.

The reason behind the hiring spree

When the pandemic induced lockdown forced many companies across the globe to work from home, it led to an increase in the demand for software that provides solutions for and help in digitising operations.

Since solutions to digitise the workflow of organisations are provided by Indian IT companies, they secured several contracts amounting to billions of dollars.

Wipro’s CEO, Thierry Delaporte, stated that an increased focus on digital operations is driving the momentum. Companies across the world are interested and investing in new-age technologies to expedite their digital transformation and become future-ready.
