BJP wants Pondy CM to address shortcomings in govt run schools

BJP's Puducherry today urged chief minister V Narayanasamy to take immediate steps to address shortcomings like lack of teachers and lab facilities in government run schools.

These shortcomings were reasons for poor showing of students of government schools in public and competitive examinations, party unit president V Saminathan said in a release.

Instead of getting the pupils ready for competitive examinations like NEET by adopting CBSE pattern of syllabus, the chief minister was indulging in "confusion and issuing conflicting statements" on the NEET issue, he alleged.

He said Lt Governor Kiran Bedi should also inspect the plight of government schools and come out with solutions to meet the schools' requirements.

He said the government should withdraw recognition given to private medical colleges if they do not earmark 50 per cent of seats in medical courses for students sponsored by the government through centralised admission committee.

He lauded the steps taken by the Lt Governor to unearth the "bungling and irregularities" in admission of students in the private medical colleges.
