Schools and other educational institutes across the country are reopening in various states in a graded manner. Check out state-wise SOPs here.

Schools and other educational institutes across the country are reopening in various states in a graded manner. While many states have already reopened the schools for few classes, some other states including Andhra Pradesh, Assam and  Uttarakhand have decided to reopen schools from today, November 2, 2020. All the states have issued new guidelines for reopening schools.

Along with these states, Kendriya Vidyalaya and Navodaya Vidyalaya have also planned to reopen schools across the country for classes 9 to 12 from today, November 2 onwards. 

Till now, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, and some other states had already opened the schools. Many states are planning to reopen schools in November.

Tamil Nadu has decided to reopen schools from November 16 onwards, while Odisha will reopen schools from November 16 for classes 9 to 12, and for other classes, the school will remain closed till November 30.

Rajasthan government has also decided that schools, colleges, educational and coaching institutions will remain closed for students and regular classes till November 16.

1. Assam

Schools will reopen in Assam today after remaining closed for over seven months due to the coronavirus pandemic. Classroom teaching would begin for the students of class 6 and above.

The schools will follow an odd-even system to minimise the risk of coronavirus spread. Students in Classes 6, 8, and 12 will attend school on Monday, Wednesday and Friday while students of classes 7, 9, and 11 will attend classes on the other three days.

2. Uttarakhand

All government schools in Uttarakhand for Class 10 to Class 12 will reopen from Monday. Only 50% students will be allowed to sit in one classroom. If any student or teacher shows Covid-19 symptoms, they will be immediately sent home.

Students from residential schools have been asked to re-join with a Covid-19 negative test report. These will be first quarantined for a week before being shifted to their dormitories.

3. Andhra Pradesh

Schools in Andhra Pradesh have resumed from today for classes 9 and 10. Each classroom will only have 16 students. Schools will conduct classes for students on alternate days and classes would be held till noon. Every day, students will undergo orientation on Covid precautions.

Classes will be held from 9.15 am to 1.45 pm, followed by midday meals. The 2020-21 academic year has since been extended to April 30 to ensure 180 working days.

4. Himachal Pradesh

The Himachal Pradesh government has decided to reopen schools on a regular basis for students of classes 9 to 12 from today.

The consent of parents will be mandatory for students keen to attend school, however, attendance will not be compulsory.

Delhi Education Minister Manish Sisodia on October 28 had confirmed that all the schools in Delhi will remain closed till further notice.
