Once Shalini Agnihotri was traveling in a bus with her mother. During the journey, a person had put his hand behind his mother's seat, due to which she was not able to sit properly. Shalini asked the man several times to remove his hand but he did not listen to her plea and got angry. The man then told Shalini that whether she is a DC of somewhere that he should follow his words. At that time, Shalini decided that she will become an officer in future.

Shalini Agnihotri had obtained 92% marks in Class 10 exam but she secured only 77% in Class 12 exam. Her parents however supported her and inspired her to continue her education.
