Meet IAS officer Ananya Singh who secured AIR 51 in UPSC exam in first attempt

Ananya Singh of Uttar Pradesh's Prayagraj achieved success in her very first UPSC exam attempt and brought laurels to the family. She planned for it and worked on it and other aspirants have a lot to learn from her preparation strategy. The always hard working and diligent Ananya worked on a strategy to crack of one India's toughest exams - UPSC. Ananya's dream was to become an IAS officer since childhood. In the last year of her graduation, she started preparing for the exam and secured AIR 51 in her first attempt.

1. Ananya was always a topper

Ananya completed her schooling from St. Mary's Convent School, Prayagraj. She scored good marks in both class 10th and 12th boards. Furthermore, she was a district topper from CISCE board and secured 96 per cent marks in class 10th and 98.25 per cent in class 12th. After that, she came to Delhi for her graduation. She completed her graduation in Economics Honors from Shri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi.

Ananya is a  brilliant synthesiser player and is fond of reading. In an interview with Delhi Knowledge Track, Ananya said that she started practising answer writing again, after taking the Main exam. She further said, she could not focus on writing much because of the lack of time. However, she tasted success in the very first attempt. In order to clear Prelims, she mentioned that one should give mock tests after preparing from books.

Ananya prepared for the exam by making a time-table. She initially prepared for Pre and Mains together. Ananya says that, the time before pre and mains is very difficult. During this one should work really hard.

Ananya cleared UPSC in her first attempt. Moreover, she secured 51 ranks all over India in 2019. Her current posting is in West Bengal as an IAS officer.

Ananya's father is a former District Judge and her mother Anjali Singh is a senior lecturer at IERT. Her elder brother Aishwarya Pratap Singh is posted as Chief Metropolitan Magistrate in Kanpur, with his wife Jyotsna, who is also a magistrate at Kanpur.

According to Ananya, previous year's papers help a lot. She advises aspirants to solve more and more papers from past years because there are chances the question gets repeated, in some subjects sometime. So go through the previous year papers. Also, revise thoroughly. While applying the intro, body, conclusion formula in your answers, you should always include the conclusion along with the solution.
