JEE Main 2021 exam dates to be announced today at 6 pm, confirms Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal

The Minister said that he will also inform about the number of attempts for the JEE Main 2021 engineering entrance test.

Union Minister for Education Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank on Wednesday will announce the schedule for JEE main exam 2021. The announcement will be made at 6 pm today.

The Minister said that he will also inform about the number of attempts for the engineering entrance test.

"Thank you all for sharing your constructive suggestions regarding JEE (main) exams. We have got your suggestions examined. I will be announcing the schedule, the number of times the exam will be held at 6 PM today. Stay tuned," said the Education Minister in a video message posted on the micro-blogging site Twitter.

Pokhriyal has already clarified that there will be no change in the syllabus for medical entrance exam NEET or engineering entrance exam JEE-Main next year.

Yesterday, the National Testing Agency (NTA) released a notification mentioning JEE Main 2021 dates, a new exam pattern among other information, which was later withdrawn.

The Minister on December 10 had a live interactive session with teachers, parents and students on the upcoming exams, where he had announced that the government is considering the possibility of holding the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) three or four times a year and a proposal is being evaluated on reducing the number of questions that students can attempt in JEE (Main) 2021.

Joint Entrance Exam Main is the admission test for National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs) and Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs). It is also the qualifying examination for the IIT admission test -- JEE Advanced.

Regarding the class 10 and 12 board exams, the minister had said the consultations with stakeholders are in progress for deciding the dates of board examinations and it will be announced soon based on the feedback from the stakeholders.

"The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is yet to take a decision on the dates of conducting board examinations including practicals. In case students are not able to do practical in classes before the examinations, alternatives to practical examinations will be explored," he had said.
