NTA removes JEE Main 2021 notification after Education Ministry's statement; latest updates here

The National Testing Agency (NTA) on Tuesday released the notification for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2021 on its official website at - jeemain.nta.nic.in, but withdrew it hours later. As per the brochure, from the next academic year, JEE Main will be held in multiple shifts- February, March, April and May.

According to the Education Ministry, there has been "no decision on dates yet" for the Joint Entrance Exam or JEE Main 2021.

By the time the ministry issued its statement, the document and the announcement had both been removed from the exam's official website, according to NDTV.

However, both the Ministry of Education and NTA have now clarified that dates for the high-stake engineering entrance examination have not been decided so far.

JEE Main 2021 schedule: Important dates

According to the notification that was published earlier, the submission of the online-only application form could be made by the candidate by January 15, 2021.

The notification also said that in the next academic year, the JEE Main will be conducted in multiple sessions - February, March, April and May 2021. "This is being done to ensure that the JEE (Main)2021 does not interfere with the Board examinations, which may be held at different times across the States/UTs," the NTA had said.

Any suggestion about a reduction in the syllabus for the engineering entrance exam JEE-Main or medical entrance exam NEET has been rejected.

About JEE Main

The JEE Main exam is a national undergraduate-led entrance test held across India for admission to various engineering and architecture courses offered by the National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), centrally-funded technical institutes (CFTIs), and various other private institutions that take JEE score as their benchmarks.

JEE Advanced, likewise, is conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) for admission to the 23 IITs in the country.

Meanwhile, Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank is scheduled to interact with teachers on Thursday (December 17) to hold discussions over CBSE Class 10, 12 Board Exams dates. 

Earlier, Pokhriyal had interacted with students, teachers, parents and other stakeholders on December 10 to address the issues related to CBSE Board exams, JEE Main 2021 and NEET 2021.

For his part, Pokhriyal made it clear that there is no plan to cancel CBSE Board Exams 2021 and NEET 2021 exams. He also said that the government is planning to hold multiple sessions of JEE Main from 2021.
