Candidates successful in qualifying for JEE Advanced 2021 need to register themselves for counseling and seat allotment.
JEE Advanced 2021 counseling and seat allotment for admission to various IIT and NIIT institutes will soon be conducted by JoSSA (joint seat allocation authority), the authority responsible for the counseling and seat allotment of JEE Advanced 2021. It will be conducted as a centralized process.
JoSSA will conduct three main processes for registration, filling and locking choices. Those candidates who become successful in qualifying for JEE Advanced 2021 have to make sure of the eligibility criteria and need to register themselves for the JEE Advanced counseling and seat allotment.
The seats are allotted to students on the basis of the All-India Rank acquired by them in the qualifying exam. The counseling process will take place in six rounds. There are a total of approximately 16000 seats in 23 IITs for JEE advanced 2021 candidates.

A qualified candidate of JEE Advanced 2021 will be required to register for JEE Advanced counseling and seat allotment. An important thing about JoSSA seat allotment process which is to be noted by the candidates is that only eligible candidates will be able to participate in the process of allotment of seats.
Procedure for JEE Advanced 2021 counseling and seat allocation – Steps to follow
The below-mentioned steps can be followed by the candidates to complete the process for JEE Advanced counseling and seat allocation.
Step 1: Registration
The first step that should be followed by the candidates for JEE Advanced 2021 counseling and seat allocation process is registration. Candidates will have to enter JEE Main roll number and JEE Advanced password as login credentials and reconfirm all the filled details.
Step 2: Filling and locking of choice
After the registration, candidates will have to select the college of their choice along with the courses they wish to take. After selecting the college, they need to lock their choice.
Step 3: Allotment of seats
JoSSA will conduct a mock allotment to make the candidates aware of their probable allotment as per their current choices. The JoSSA authorities will allot the seat according to the merit, preferred choices, category and availability of seats.
After each mock allotment, the candidates will have to choose their options from freeze, slide and float.
Step 4: Reporting at centers
After the allotment of seats is done, candidates will have to download their allotment letter after payment of seat acceptance fees. After that, candidates will have to carry all the required documents (refer to the list below) at their respective verification centers to complete the process.

Participating colleges in JEE Advanced 2021 counseling
The number of colleges participating in JEE Advanced 2021 counseling and seat allocation process is 23 IITs (Indian Institutes of Technology) out of a total of 110 institutes at JoSSA. The number of seats for which candidates will be fighting would be 16053 seats.
To get a seat in the desired college, a candidate needs to acquire a good all India- rank. As this is the only way to get admission into the college of their choice.
