A tourist bus carrying more than 50 passengers fell off a bridge over a river in Khed taluka of Ratnagiri district, killing 37 people and critically injuring more than a dozen. The driver escaped with minor injuries and was arrested.

A family of nearly 12 to 13 people, which was on its way to a relative's funeral at Dapoli, Ratnagiri district, in a state transport bus, met with an accident after a Volvo bus crashed into theirs on the Mumbai-Goa highway. Three persons died, while 26 others were injured.
