Woman shot at by 2 bike-borne assailants in Outer Delhi's Aman Vihar area

A 35-year-old woman was shot at while resisting a snatching attempt by two armed bike-borne assailants. The incident took place in Outer Delhi's Aman Vihar area on Sunday night.

According to the police, the victim was warming herself next to a bonfire outside her residence when two men approached her and threatened to remove her jewellery and hand it over to them. The woman identified as Geeta refuted their claims following which they fired at her and fled the location.

Geeta told the police that she was sitting outside her residence warming herself beside a bonfire, when two men came there and asked for her chain and ring, however, when she resisted, they opened fire at her and fled from the spot after robbing her jewellery, a senior police officer said.

The officer said the victim was rushed to Sanjay Gandhi hospital where she is being treated for her injuries. She sustained a bullet injury on her thigh. A case under appropriate sections has been registered.

Geeta had recently come from Agra to visit her parents who stay in Aman Vihar. Police said they have scanned through the CCTV footage installed in the area to ascertain the sequence of event. In the footage, two men are seen running from the spot. However, the sequence of the event was not captured in the CCTV. The accused have not been identified yet. Further investigation is underway, police said.
