A woman from the North-East sustained injuries as she fell off her auto-rickshaw while trying to resist snatchers who tried to snatch her bag on Sunday evening. The woman, who has been living in Delhi for the past seven years, was going to her home in Malviya Nagar.

According to a friend, the victim had gone to the Maharani Bagh market in order to purchase a mobile phone. "Around 7 pm, she boarded an auto in order to return home. She was sitting towards the left side, when two biker borne assailants, wearing helmets, came and tried to snatch her bag near the Lajpat Nagar flyover," said the friend. He added that she held onto her bag and did not leave it.

However, the assailants pulled the bag so hard that the victim fell off the auto and they fled with it. The woman lost her iPhone, cash and cards which were kept in the bag.

The victim then reached her friend's house in Munirka and informed the police who then rushed her to the AIIMS, Trauma Centre for treatment. The victim sustained injuries on her hand, face, and elbows, but she alleged that till late in the night, doctors did not provide her proper medical aid. She was discharged from hospital on Monday morning.

A case of snatching was registered at the Lajpat Nagar police station. Further investigations are underway.
