Officers of the Delhi government's vigilance department are likely to face privilege proceedings, Assembly Speaker Ram Niwas Goel said on Monday. Goel, during the budget session, ordered an Assembly panel to investigate the matter regarding the Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash's refusal to answer a question asked by an MLA.

The speaker directed Prakash to provide the answer as asked by AAP MLA Pankaj Pushkar and warned the officers that they should not force him to the extent that he does not sign the Delhi Budget 2018-19, which is to be tabled in the House on March 22.

While giving the order, the speaker also sent the matter to the privilege committee of the House for further action.

Deputy CM Manish Sisodia said, "Vigilance department officers showed me the note of the L-G, saying the information about vigilance cases can't be shared with the elected government. They are trying to protect officers who have corruption cases against them,"
