On the occasion of the International Day of Non-Violence and to commemorate Mahatma Gandhi's 150th birth anniversary, the UNESCO Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Education for Peace and Sustainable Development (MGIEP) will launch the International Youth Campaign on Kindness for the Sustainable Development Goals: India at the India Habitat Centre on October 2.

The organisation will also host multiple events globally, including the launch of its International Youth Campaign on Kindness for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in India, South Africa and Pakistan and the third Ahimsa Lecture in France by Sadhguru and Gregoire Borst, a leading neuroscientist on 'Creating a Culture of Peace'.

According to the information shared by MGIEP, the campaign aims to mobilise the world's youth to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by calling for and celebrating stories of extraordinary, transformative Acts of Kindness committed by youth and by showing how they are contributing to the achievement of the SDGs.

The global launch of the campaign on October 2 will witness simultaneous youth activities taking place en masse through the day in India (New Delhi), South Africa (Cape Town) and Pakistan (Islamabad). Each group activity will be a step towards achieving one or more of the seventeen Sustainable Development Goals.

In India, youth groups will come together during the first half of the day to participate in a mass blood donation drive in collaboration with the International Federation of Red Cross (SDG 3: Good Health and Well Being), distribute extra food among those in need (SDG 2: Zero Hunger) and an educational session with underprivileged children (SDG 4: Quality Education).
