All six people on board were reported to be safe, senior officials said.

The incident came to light at 6.35 pm, when the Airport Operations Control Centre (AOCC) informed the security agencies that at 5.52 pm, a non-scheduled flight with registration number VT YUD, arriving from Bhubaneswar, suffered a tyre burst, a senior CISF officer said.

Following this, the aircraft got stuck and the runway had to be shut. It was only after an hour and after a half, at 7.18 pm, that the aircraft was towed away and the runway was cleared, the officer added. The closure led to some congestion, since only two runways remained functional.
