The incident took place around 1 am when a group of men belonging to a different community objected to the loud music being played at a wedding function in Gali Jatan Gali Telyan area of Sadar Bazar.
Tensions prevailed in Old Delhi's Sadar Bazaar area after two groups clashed with each other in the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday. An 80-year-old man was also thrashed by a group of men.
Police force has been deployed in the area.
According to the police, the incident took place around 1 am when a group of men belonging to a different community objected to the loud music being played at a wedding function in Gali Jatan Gali Telyan area of Sadar Bazar. A group of men then barged into the wedding venue. Within minutes, the issue flared up and stones were pelted by both the parties. Police officials said that a person also sustained minor injuries but was later discharged from the hospital. "Police presence has been increased in the area. The market is open and daily activities are being carried out," said Jatin Narwal, DCP, North.
A case of rioting and simple hurt has been registered. Further investigations are underway.
