The Transport Department of the Delhi government has started sending letters of intent for the purchase of three-wheelers to over 9,000 applicants. It had invited online applications for issuing 1,000 auto permits in January this year.

A total of 11,177 applications were considered, said a senior transport official. Those lacking commercial permit were asked to submit necessary documents between August 28 and September 10.

During scrutiny, 9,064 applicants were found eligible for permits. These are now being issued letters of intent with which they can purchase three-wheelers from 28 dealers in Delhi, the official said.
