A 25-year-old man was allegedly stabbed to death while another was injured following a quarrel between two groups over petty issue in Northwest Delhi's Sawan Park on Saturday night. Police have arrested three of the four accused in the case.

According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Deepak.

"We received a police control room call at around 11pm on Saturday informing us about a quarrel following which police reached the spot. It came to light that two friends Dharma and Kailash had gone to the residence of Dharma's relatives at Kabir Nagar from Sawan Park to attend a family function," said Aslam Khan, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northwest).

While a family function was going on, Kailash picked up a fight with two of Dharma's relatives Deepak and Niku.

"Following a quarrel, Kailash was sent back forcefully to his residence at Sawan Park. He felt insulted and so decided to take revenge so he waited along with his brother, father and cousins for Dharma to return at Sawan Park Chowk," said Khan.

When Dharma returned with Deepak and Niku to Sawan Park after attending the function, a scuffle broke out between Kaliash and the rest of them, police said.

During the scuffle, Deepak was stabbed in knee and Niku was hit by a stone on his head.

"Deepak died of excessive bleeding while Niku was treated for his injuries at a nearby hospital," said Khan.

A case has been registered, police said, adding the matter is being probed.

"The accused identified as Kailash, Yogesh and Jagdev have been arrested in connection with the incident while the fourth accused Jeetu has been absconding," said Khan.

Further investigation is underway.
